President of a Nigerian faith-based community organisation in New Jersey, United States of America, Samuel Ayeni, has flayed the call by Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, for Christians to support APC’s choice of Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket.
He described Akeredolu’s call as opportunistic and unjustifiable, saying his action amounted to asking the Christians to accept injustice deliberately foisted on them by the party.
A statement in Akure, Ondo State, Akeredolu’s Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde, quoted the governor as making the plea during the Holy Ghost Convention Dinner of The Sword of the Spirit Ministries, at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, Agbowo, Ibadan, Oyo State.
But Ayeni, in response said: “This is not the kind of statement that is expected from a governor, who is expected to be a statesman, not to mention one who is the chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum.”
