Pastor Godswin Chukwuka of Christ The Rock Foundation has urged Nigerians not to neglect their parents. The cleric who spoke at the inauguration of Beulah Palace Foundation in Lagos, said the sacrifice made by parents to shape the lives of their children, insisting it is a moral and spiritual duty to care for them.
Quoting the Bible, he said “Children honour your parents, so that you days might be long in the land of the living”.
The foundation, founded by Chukwuka, focus on providing care for over 100 elderly and indigent citizens. It aims to cater to their physical, psychological, and spiritual needs, ensuring they live their final years in dignity.
He explained that the foundation passion to change the narratives around the neglect of elderly citizens in the society. He called on both the government and well-meaning Nigerians to support the initiative.
Co-founder, Mrs Joy Chukwuka emphasised the important of providing companionship and activities for the elderly. Many of them, she explained, suffer from isolation and loneliness.
The foundation seeks to engage them in meaningful activities that keep them mentally and physically active.
Dr. Oluwafunmilayo Adekola a representatives from the Lagos State Government echoed these sentiments, highlighting the importance of proper medical care and financial support for senior citizens. She described caring for the elderly as both a privilege and a responsibility.
Beulah Palace Foundation, registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission, aims to collaborate with Lagos State Government and other organisations to expand its impact on the elderly community in Nigeria.
