A global, Igbo, socio-cultural media company dedicated to the promotion of the Igbo culture and celebrating the accomplishments of men and women of Igbo extraction in Nigeria and overseas who are excelling in various sectors of the economy, last weekend, hosted many dignitaries to its annual Global Igbo Entrepreneurs Award (GIEA). It is the biggest recognition of Igbo Entrepreneurs worldwide. The award ceremony which held at the Shell Hall of Muson Centre, Victoria Island, themed, “Convergence of Igbo Business Elite” recognized 40 entrepreneurs who have distinguished themselves in various sectors of the economy ranging from Oil & Gas, Information Technology, Trade, Education, Banking, Maritime, Health, Services, Entertainment, Media, Power and Energy, Manufacturing, Real Estate, Transportation, etc.
The well-attended annual award event was hosted by Ikeanumba Africa Magazine, a renowned African entrepreneurship promotional magazine company, which has had many of its monthly edition covers feature numerous African Entrepreneurs Under 50, their business enterprises and their journeys to greatness. From the likes of Linda Ikeji to Obi Iyiegbu, a.k.a Obi Cubana, and several others. It focuses its activities on sharing the success stories of African entrepreneurs to the world.
Among many other awardees, Mr. Adim, Nnanna, the MD/CEO of CINEMATICS, bagged the Award of Excellence in Media, for his numerous contributions in innovation and job creation through his company CINEMATICS, an award-winning media and content generation company famously known in the events management industry for their expertise in scripting, storytelling and creating outstanding high definition multimedia contents in the area of videography and photography. They are especially known for their 360-videography booth experience and continuously creating video booth installations that give events that wow factor.
Mr. Adim, on mounting the podium to receive his award, was accompanied by his lovely wife, Dr. T.A Adim, Shulammite Okafor, business operations manager, CINEMATICS, and Mr. Eddy Diaso, senior production expert, CINEMATICS.
Addressing the audience after receiving the ‘Award of Excellence in Media’, he thanked the organizers of this year’s GIEA Award for recognizing his efforts and contributions towards the upliftment of the media industry in Nigeria. In his words: “It’s an interesting thing and a laudable goal to have received this award. Media is something that is very important in today’s time and space. We all know that content is King, and when it comes to things that have to do with our culture and heritage, it is very important that we document these things. We should not take documentaries of family history for granted. It’s worthy to mention to all and sundry that we also have a sister company by the name “Timelife Africa”, which focuses on documenting family stories from generations past till date. It was inspired by me seeing the need to make sure that we document our history, especially our respective family history, so that our children will grow up and not forget where they come from or who their family is. Particularly in this era with a high rate of people migrating from Igboland and other regions to other parts of the country or even overseas. It is very possible to lose interest in one’s culture, language and everything that has to do with the Igbo tradition. Seeing the need for tackling these issues, we have been able to document so many families’ stories, from the great grandfathers, grandfathers to people in their 40’s and 50’s up to their grandchildren. So, these documented family histories and heritage can be kept for our children’s children. So, we can save the Igbo culture and heritage in the sands of time. And this award event is one of the ways to achieve such, as the event keeps growing year by year, and keeps recognizing great sons and daughters of Igbo extraction who are doing marvelous and great things in various fields of human endeavour.
So, on behalf of my family, my team at CINEMATICS, my wife, Dr. Tamunoiduwari A. Adim, my children, Otito, Zikora, Kambi and everyone who came out here to support me, I want to say a big thank you once again and I pray we all keep documenting our respective family histories, so we keep remembering and understanding where we come from.
The epoch-making event had in attendance many dignitaries from both Igbo and non-Igbo extraction – Eze Uche Dimgba – former Eze Ndigbo of Ikeja, Dr. (Mrs.) Ijeoma E. Jidenma – C.EO of Leading Edge Consulting, Mrs. Elizabeth Ebi – GMD/CEO, Futureview Group, Mrs. Margaret Nkechi Moore –MD/CEO Mega Trust Insurance Ltd, Mrs. Maria-Pamella Nwonu –CEO, Nwando’s Signature, Mrs. Comfort Nwankwo – MD/CEO, Cicom Int’l Ltd, Prof George Obiozor – Diplomat, Barr. Phil Asiri-Olisa –Managing Partner, Phil Oliseh and Company, Princess Lilian Odumosu – National President of Women N Enterprise, Ambassador Cornel Udofia – Founder, CMC Gladiators and many more.
The convener of the event, Rev. Ayobanna Ikeanumba, a South Africa-trained real estate developer, addressing participants at the event, in his words, stated that as a professional, “my core belief is that entrepreneurship is what drives development and afro-capitalism which is the way forward for Africa, is what drives every successful entrepreneur. The Igbo sons and daughters nominated to receive this year’s awards were carefully selected based on their track records and the positive impacts they are making in the society. They are not just persons who are succeeding, but have succeeded in their various fields of endeavour, these individuals have excelled where others have failed. They are huge employers of labour in their host environments and make enormous contributions in the development of the Igbo community.”
