The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), Lagos State branch has announced that it is set to address key policy issues that will help strengthen the nation’s economy in its forthcoming 2023 edition of the Bankers Nite event.
According to the branch chairman, CIBN, Lagos, Mr Adeyemo Adeoye, the annual conference will bring together top bankers, economists and captains of industry among others to share ideas.
The conference scheduled for August 18, with the theme: “Exchange rate unification: Glocal implications for households, organisation and the country,” would be held at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal palace hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, at 5:00pm.
Guest expected at the event are the special guest of honour, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State; Chairman of the occasion, George Onafowokan, Managing Director, CEO Coleman Wire and Cables; Guest speaker, Dr Biodun Adesipe, Founder and chief consultant, B.Adedipe Associate Ltd; Chief host, Dr Ken Opara, president/ Chairman of council, CIBN; Host, Mr Adeoye; Royal fathers of the day are HRM, Oba Abdulwasiu Omigbolahan Lawal, Oniru Abisogun II and HRM, Oba Alayeluwa Saheed Ademola Elegushi Kusenla III.
Adeoye noted that since the CIBN Lagos State Branch started as the local chapter of the Institute of Bankers London in 1963, but registered (and metamorphosed into what is known today as CIBN National body) in 1976.
It has continued in relentless pursuit of promoting forward-looking ideas, delivering value-addine programmes, and fostering the use of innovations to help strengthen the institute’s leadership position as well as to improve professionalism across the entire banking industry.
He said the institute has also made conscious efforts to support policy designs, formulation and implementation, as part of its unrelenting quest to contribute to the nation’s development.
“As part of our larger strategy of promoting financial enlightenment, an providing platforms for discussing key policy issues that will help strengthen o nation’s economic, we are once again bringing to you, our Lagos Bankers’ Ni this year (after a period of absence of three years, due to slip-over effects ar factors that were not unrelated to the global pandemic . The last outing was year 2019).
