The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) and the Association of Corporate Communications and Marketing Professionals in Banks (ACAMB) have pledged to strengthen collaboration to promote financial inclusion, women empowerment and sustainable growth in Nigeria’s banking industry.
The commitment was made during a courtesy visit by ACAMB’s leadership to the newly inaugurated 24th President and Chairman of Council of CIBN, Dr Dele Alabi, where both organisations agreed to work together to expand access to financial services, improve financial literacy and support micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Speaking during the meeting, Alabi said financial inclusion and women’s economic empowerment would remain key priorities under his administration, noting that increasing women’s access to savings, credit and insurance would improve household welfare and strengthen economic resilience.
He said the Institute would also promote public awareness programmes and knowledge-sharing initiatives in partnership with ACAMB and other stakeholders to improve financial literacy across the country.
“Our focus is on educating the public through awareness programmes, with ACAMB serving as a strategic partner. We also intend to support banks and financial institutions in advancing gender-focused financial inclusion to help close the existing nine per cent gender gap in access to formal financial services,” Alabi said.
The CIBN President noted that the Institute’s “IMPACT” vision, unveiled during his investiture, is anchored on six pillars—Inclusion, Membership growth, Professionalism, Accountability, Competencies and Technology—with financial inclusion and women empowerment featuring prominently in the agenda.
ACAMB President, Mr Jide Sipe, said expanding access to financial services would boost economic growth, reduce inequality and encourage wider participation in the formal economy.
He described the visit as an opportunity to congratulate Alabi on his appointment while laying the foundation for stronger institutional collaboration.

“We are proud to associate with a leadership that places professionalism and impact at the centre of its agenda. We look forward to partnering with CIBN on initiatives that will strengthen the banking industry and support national development,” Sipe said.
Sipe also announced plans for ACAMB’s 30th anniversary celebration, marking three decades of contributions to Nigeria’s banking and financial services industry.
He formally invited the CIBN President to chair the association’s Gala Night scheduled for September 30, 2026, and sought the Institute’s support through participation and the mobilisation of bank chief executives.
Beyond the anniversary celebration, ACAMB reaffirmed its commitment to supporting CIBN programmes, including the annual Banking Conference, through media relations, strategic communications and digital marketing.
The association also disclosed plans to engage the Chairman of the Committee of Banks and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on policies aimed at strengthening the banking sector and supporting long-term economic growth.
According to Sipe, closer collaboration among banks and industry stakeholders is essential for building a stronger financial system and presenting a unified voice on issues affecting the sector.
He called on financial institutions to embrace greater cooperation in marketing and communications, stressing that industry-wide partnerships would deliver better results than isolated efforts.
The meeting ended with both organisations reaffirming their commitment to sustained collaboration in advancing professionalism, financial inclusion and inclusive economic development across Nigeria’s banking industry.
