The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of God Parish, has called on the government, individuals and organisations to invest in a stronger primary healthcare in rural communities to safeguard the country.
The Pastor-in-Charge of the church, Gbolade Okenla made the call during their outreach programme in Kabusa, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as part of the Christmas season’s distribution of medical support and food items.
Pastor Okenla said the 6000 beneficiaries of the outreach were in line with the vision of the General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye to share the love of Christ this season in the rural areas of the FCT.

“The government should please partner with genuine bodies that have genuine concern for the people, then we would be able to reach out,” he said.
Similarly, the church’s medical director, Theophilus Ado, said by bringing primary healthcare that is accessible, secondary healthcare that is general hospitals and tertiary healthcare being teaching hospitals, the country would save funds due to healthy citizenry.
“If we don’t do that, we go from prevention to caring and caring is more expensive. The most important thing is healthcare financing; we need domestic health insurance for the average person,” he added.
The beneficiaries in the community received testing and treatment for upper respiratory and lower respiratory tract diseases, hypertension, malaria, skin diseases, eye problems and tests for diabetes, hepatitis and HIV among others.
