Former Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District and Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last Anambra governorship election, Senator Uche Ekwunife, has called on Nigerians to embrace unity, compassion, and responsible leadership as Christians across the country mark the 2025 Christmas celebration.
In her Christmas message issued on Wednesday, 25 December, Senator Ekwunife described the birth of Jesus Christ as a powerful reminder of the timeless values of love, sacrifice, humility, and hope, which she said remain critical to Nigeria’s national rebirth at this period.
She urged Nigerians not to lose faith despite the prevailing socio-economic and security challenges confronting the nation, stressing that resilience, collective responsibility, and shared national purpose are key to achieving lasting peace and sustainable development.
“Christmas calls us to reflect deeply on our shared humanity and recommit ourselves to unity and compassion, especially at a time when our nation yearns for healing, stability, and progress,” the former lawmaker stated.
Senator Ekwunife also charged leaders at all levels of government to draw inspiration from the true essence of Christmas by prioritising the welfare of the people above personal or political interests.

The former Senator further felicitated Christians on the celebration of Christmas and acknowledged religious leaders across all faiths for their consistent role in promoting peace, tolerance, and harmonious coexistence in Nigeria.
She also called on Nigerians to extend love, care, and support to the less privileged during the festive season and beyond, emphasising that nation-building requires compassion, inclusion, and collective action.
Senator Ekwunife expressed optimism that the Christmas season would usher in renewed hope, unity, and abundant blessings for Nigerians, while praying for peace and prosperity across the country.
