Christmas Carols: Plateau declares Friday half-workday

From Jude Owuamanam, Jos

The Plateau State Government has approved Friday, November 28, 2025, to be observed as a half-workday for all public servants across the state for the 2025 Unity Christmas Carols and Praise Festival.

A statement signed by the Secretary to the Government of the State, Samuel Jatau, said that the directive was to allow workers and members of the public to participate fully in the event.

The annual event, according to Jatau, is to promote worship, thanksgiving, and celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.

It stressed that the festival is a major unifying platform that strengthens peace, love, and harmony among the diverse communities in Plateau State.

The statement advised government ministries, departments, and agencies to ensure that essential services remain uninterrupted, while work activities should close by 12:00 noon on Friday.

The State Government further encouraged citizens to attend the event and join in celebrating the values of unity and peaceful coexistence that define Plateau State.

The statement expressed appreciation for the support and cooperation of residents towards building a more peaceful, united, and prosperous Plateau.
