Lead Pastor of the Living Word Conquerors Global Assembly, Bishop David Abioye said those denying the occurrence of Christian genocide in Nigeria are a “wicked set of people”.

Abioye said this in a recent sermon at the Mabushi, Abuja-based church, a clip of which has gone viral on social media.

There has been a heated debate over occurrence of premeditated and organised extermination of Christians in Nigeria.

While some lawmakers and religious interests in the United States led by Senator Ted Cruz insist it is happening, the Federal Government of Nigeria has vehemently debunked the claim.

The Bola Tinubu administration also cautioned against plots to designate Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC), a designation given to a country deemed responsible for systematic and egregious violations of religious freedom under the International Religious Freedom Act of 1998.

However, the cleric alleged that genocide is being perpetrated in Northern Nigeria and is gradually moving down South.

He also berated Christian leaders who deny its occurrence for selfish interest, saying they were selling out their faith.

Abioye said, “There’s a lot of distortion going on, people claiming that there is no genocide of Christians in the nation.

“Information with facts can never be thwarted. You see people buried in hundreds and you say there is no genocide. What a wicked set of people.

“Agreed that there are other people killed in other places for other reasons. But this one is very clear. And gradually, it is eating down to the south – south west, south east.

“And many so-called leaders for their personal interest are claiming it is not true. Selling out their faith, if they have it at all.”
