On October 17, 2025, the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, met with the Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Prof. Eghosa Emmanuel Osaghae.
During the meeting, Ambassador Yu stated that as the world undergoes accelerating changes unseen in a century, humanity stands at a new crossroads.
Yu also said President Xi Jinping has solemnly put forward the Global Governance Initiative, further contributing Chinese wisdom and solutions to strengthen and improve global governance, injecting greater stability and certainty into a turbulent world.

The core principles of the Global Governance Initiative, according to the Chinese envoy, aligned closely with the intrinsic needs of China-Nigeria cooperation.
China, he stated, is willing to work with Nigeria to enhance think tank exchanges and cooperation, deepen policy communication and research exchanges, and contribute more wisdom to advancing the China-Nigeria comprehensive strategic partnership.
On his part, Osaghae emphasised that concepts such as the Community of Shared Future for Mankind and the Global Governance Initiative proposed by China hold significant global and contemporary importance.
He also said that Nigeria looked forward to establishing closer ties with Chinese think-tanks and strengthening cooperation in areas of policy research and women’s development.
