On July 10, 2025, Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria Yu Dunhai attended the launching ceremony of “Nihao! China” program and delivered remarks, with nearly 100 guests from various sectors, including the Director-General of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Mohammad Bulama; the Director of the China Cultural Center in Nigeria, Counsellor Yang Jianxing, Chinese and Nigerian staff and journalists.

Yu noted that China-Nigeria relations are enjoying strong momentum, with flourishing and fruitful people-to-people exchanges.
He told the audience that as 2026 marks the Year of China-Africa People-to-People Exchanges, the launch of the “Nihao! China” program comes at an opportune moment which will provide Nigerian audiences with a new platform to learn Chinese and better understand China, while injecting lasting impetus into mutually beneficial China-Nigeria economic and trade cooperation.

On his part, Bulama said the programme ushered in a new chapter in China-Nigeria cultural and media cooperation, adding that it was a concrete step in implementing the important consensus reached by the two heads of state last year.
Proficiency in Chinese, he added, will offer Nigeria a major linguistic advantage in its development. The two sides then jointly inaugurated the programme and were interviewed by Chinese and Nigerian media.
