China on Thursday called for an immediate halt to hostilities in the Middle East following US President Donald Trump’s warning of heavy military strikes on Iran in the coming weeks.
“Military means cannot fundamentally solve the problem, and the escalation of conflicts is not in the interests of either side,” said Mao Ning during a press briefing in Beijing. She urged “the parties concerned to immediately cease military operations,” stressing diplomacy as the preferred path to resolve tensions.
