The Chief Executive Officer of Proven Performance Limited, Chief Mrs. Chiaka Ben-Obi, has been honoured with a prestigious chieftaincy title as ‘Adadiohanma of Isi Ihite‑Owerri’ in recognition of her outstanding character, exemplary leadership, and sustained philanthropic contributions to community development, marking a significant milestone in his professional and social impact.
She received the titled on December 30, at the Ezeoha Palace, Isi Ihite‑Owerri, in Orlu Local Government Area in the state.
The honour was formally announced in a letter signed by the Ezeoha, Obi of Isi Ihite‑Owerri, Eze (Amb.) Damian Emeka Obianigwe (KSM), who praised Ben‑Obi’s outstanding contributions, selfless service, and far‑reaching impact on the community and humanity at large.
Eze Obianigwe noted that the recognition reflects Ben-Obi’s legacy of excellence, humility, and dedication to community development.
The letter read in parts, “This honour is in recognition of your exceptional contributions, distinguished service, and the enduring impact you have made – not only on the lives of the people of Isi lhiteowerri but also in advancing the broader cause of humanity.”
Eze Obianigwe emphasised that Ben-Obi’s integrity had not gone unnoticed. “We, as a people, celebrate and immortalise your name through this traditional honour,” he added.
In the traditional setting, chieftaincy titles are a mark of prestige among the Igbo people. It is bestowed on those who show outstanding character, leadership, philanthropy, and service to their community.
This time, however, the palace decided to honour Ben-Obi. Over the years in her career, she has been recognised for her achievements in leadership, philanthropy, and for championing women and youth in STEM fields.
During her tenure at the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) for nearly 14 years, she led major digital transformation projects. She drove modernisation and boosted efficiency in tax administration.
Her impact attracted national and international honours, including the ISACA Technology for Humanity Award, the Kwame Nkrumah Leadership Medal, and multiple commendations from ISACA Abuja and in the United States.
Kneeling before the Eze as he adorned her with red beads, a beaded cap, and the nza, Ben-Obi expressed deep gratitude and said she felt honoured and overwhelmed, pledging to keep making a positive impact in Nigeria and beyond. “I’m delighted to receive this honour. It is a call for greater works ahead. We shall continue to make a positive impact in Nigeria and beyond,” she assured.
