Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has revealed that the upcoming Unity Cup will serve as a key platform to assess overlooked talents, particularly players who have yet to earn opportunities with the national team.

“The Unity Cup provides a platform to assess players that never got the chance to feature,” Chelle said, highlighting his intention to broaden the team’s selection base.

The former Mali international also disclosed that top performers from the Nigeria Premier Football League will be given close attention in the coming weeks.

“Top players from the Nigeria Premier Football League will also be considered, as I will be watching a number of domestic league games from now until the end of the season,” he added.

Chelle noted that the initiative is part of a wider plan to integrate fresh talents into the Super Eagles setup ahead of future competitions.

Looking ahead, the coach confirmed that Nigeria’s high-profile international friendlies in June against Poland and Portugal will feature the country’s established stars.

“For the big warm-up games in June against Poland and Portugal, I will feature my first-team players. These are games that can push us up in global rankings,” Chelle stated.
