Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Alagbon Annex, Lagos, Mrs Margaret Agebe Ochalla, has tasked officers to chase criminals out of their hideouts and respect fundamental human rights of citizens:
“My vision is to take the FCID to the next level and cultivate a police force that is professionally competent, intelligence-driven and equipped to confront emerging threats proactively.
“Training and re-training of officers and re-organising the FCID and other specialised units has been a priority to ensuring that our detectives operate in line with globally accepted best practices. We will ensure our officers are equipped with the requisite-skills for modern law enforcement.
“We will imbibe community policing and apply professionalism and remain steadfast.
“My focus is on human rights community policing, ethical conduct and the force commitment to serving the public with integrity and respect. Our engagement to bolster public trust and promote active citizen participation in policing. Officers should boost morale and enhance service delivery.
“I have told our officers to dress decently and be hardworking. We are here to serve the public. Our door is open to receive complaints and vital information from the public. It is my commitment to build a more effective and accountable police force that enjoys the trust and confidence of the Nigerian public.”
