Founding Head and Director of Education of Charterhouse Lagos, John Todd, has been honoured with the traditional title of Aare Oluko of Ogombo Kingdom by the Oba of Ogombo, Oba Muslim Abiodun Ogunbo, the Ogudu Oshadi of Ogombo Kingdom.
The conferment, which took place at the weekend, attracted traditional rulers, representatives of the Lagos State Government, community leaders and members of the Charterhouse Lagos leadership team.
Todd was honoured in recognition of his contributions to education in Nigeria and his role in establishing Charterhouse Lagos, which has positioned itself as a provider of British education while maintaining links with its host community and local heritage.
Since assuming his role as Founding Head, Todd has overseen the development of the school and its engagement with the wider Ogombo community, with emphasis on education, youth development and community relations.
The chieftaincy title, according to the organisers, underscores the growing relationship between the school and its host community.
Receiving the honour, Todd expressed appreciation to the monarch and people of Ogombo Kingdom, describing the recognition as both humbling and significant.
“Receiving this title is both humbling and deeply appreciated. It reinforces the vital relationship between Charterhouse Lagos and our host community, as well as our shared commitment to service and youth development,” he said.
Todd pledged to continue supporting initiatives that strengthen the relationship between the school and the community, particularly in areas of education and youth development.
