Champions League: Liverpool edge out Atletico, Bayern Munich thrash Chelsea

Matchday 2 of this season’s Champions League provided some intriguing results around Europe on Wednesday night.

Liverpool needed a late header from Virgil van Dijk to beat Atletico Madrid 3-2 at Anfield.

The Premier League champions took a two-goal lead thanks to Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah.

However, Atletico fought back to level the match, with Marcos Llorente scoring twice.

Bayern Munich outclassed Chelsea 3-1 in Germany, with Harry Kane netting a brace for Vincent Kompany’s side.

Reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain thrashed Atalanta 3-0

In the earlier fixtures, debutants Pafo and Bodo/Glimt both drew, while Marcus Thuram’s brace secured a 2-0 victory for Inter Milan at Ajax.
