Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has broken his countryman David Beckham’s Champions League scoring record.
Kane accomplished the feat after scoring twice in Chelsea’s 3-1 victory over Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.
Kane’s strikes against Chelsea brought his total goal contributions in the Champions League to 53 (42 goals and 11 assists), a record for an English player in the competition’s history.

Beckham had held the record with his 52 goal contributions during his career as a professional footballer while playing for the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain.
However, Kane, 32, has now surpassed Beckham, who retired from professional football in 2013.
Kane will now hope to lead Bayern Munich to victory when they face Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga this weekend.
