A staff of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Dr. Gever Verlumun Celestine, who was earlier this year ranked the best communication scholar in Nigeria for 2019-2022 based on Scopus Scival author ranking, has secured a research fellowship in Germany.
The fellowship was offered by the Center for Advanced Internet Studies (CAIS), Bochum, Germany, with financial support from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
With the fellowship, Dr. Celestine will spend six months in Germany, from October 2023 to March 2024.
While in Germany, Dr. Celestine will be working on a study with the title: “Using Interactive Television Instruction (ITV) to Reduce the Propensity to Engage in Substance Abuse and Drug Trafficking Among Vulnerable Adolescents in Nigeria.”
Celestine is a widely published author in Scopus-indexed journals.
A visit to the Scopus website at www.scopus.com showed that he has published 59 articles in Scopus-indexed journals and counting. Scopus is the world’s largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature like journals, books, and conference proceedings.
Only journals that meet the highest level of scholarly rigour are indexed in Scopus. Authors whose articles are published in journals that are indexed by Scopus are highly revered and regarded as grounded in research.
Dr. Celestine’s publications have appeared in reputable international publishers like SAGE, Oxford University Press, Taylor and Francis (Routledge), Elsevier, Emerald, Springer Nature and Wiley Online.
In an interview with Dr. Celestine, he revealed that researching is a way of life for him and added that he intends to make the best use of the fellowship opportunity while in Germany.
He joined the services of the University of Nigeria in May 2018 and has risen to the rank of Lecturer 1.
