- Adolphus Akaniru Remodeled Church, Supports Education
The Akaniru family laid to rest their beloved matriarch, Mrs. Eunice Akaniru, at the remarkable age of 95, in a grand celebration that filled Umudioka Umuohi Okija, Anambra State, with joy and reverence from January 3 to January 15, 2025.
The highlight of this heartfelt tribute occurred on January 9, 2025, when Mama’s body was laid to rest. The outing service took place on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Umuohi Okija, officiated by His Lordship Rt. Rev. Ndubuisi Obi, the Bishop of Nnewi Diocese. This church, a symbol of community and faith, was remodeled by Mama’s first son, Chief Adolphus Akaniru, a U.S.-based pharmacist dedicated to giving back to society.
In honoring his mother’s legacy, Chief Adolphus organized the distribution of exercise materials to 500 pupils and students in the community, as well as providing school fees support. He also recognized the top achievers among the students, stating, “I do all this to keep my mum’s legacy alive.”
Dr. Frank Igbojindu, the event planner from Akpoazaa Event Planners and coordinator of the educational support initiative, expressed his gratitude for Chief Adolphus’s commitment to easing challenges in the community. He noted the joy in being part of such a meaningful event that not only celebrated a life well-lived but also invested in the future of the community.
The celebration was a testament to Mrs. Akaniru’s enduring legacy and the deep love her family holds for her.
