The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced a new date for the 299th meeting of its Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), shifting it from the previously scheduled 17th and 18th February to Wednesday, 18th February, and Thursday, 19th February.

CBN, in a statement on Monday, said the adjustment comes amid speculations surrounding the meeting date, fueled by delays from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in releasing the rebased Consumer Price Index (CPI).

“With a date now fixed, the attention of economic watchers is focused on the CBN’s MPC to ascertain if there will be a hold or hike in the monetary policy rate (MPR), going by current trends,” it added.
