To deepen economic cooperation between Nigeria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, has reaffirmed the apex bank’s commitment to fostering strategic partnerships that drive sustainable growth across key sectors.
During a recent courtesy visit to the CBN headquarters in Abuja, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Nigeria, H.E. Faisal bin Ibrahim Alghamdi, led a high-level delegation to discuss avenues for enhancing bilateral relations. The meeting underscored both nations’ shared aspirations for economic collaboration, with a particular focus on trade, investment, and infrastructural development.
Speaking during the engagement, Mr. Cardoso highlighted the immense potential of strengthened ties between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the role of the CBN in facilitating economic partnerships that yield long-term benefits. He reiterated the apex bank’s readiness to support initiatives that enhance trade flows, investment opportunities, and financial cooperation between both countries.
“The Central Bank of Nigeria remains committed to advancing partnerships that will deepen economic ties between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. We will continue to explore opportunities that yield tangible benefits for both countries,” Mr. Cardoso stated.
He further lauded Saudi Arabia’s economic initiatives and expressed appreciation for the Kingdom’s warm hospitality during the recently concluded AIUla event, hosted by the Saudi Ministry of Finance in collaboration with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Regional Office in Riyadh.
The event, which brought together global financial leaders, served as a platform for discussing innovative economic solutions and strengthening international partnerships.
In response, Ambassador Alghamdi conveyed his gratitude for the warm reception from the CBN Governor and reiterated Saudi Arabia’s eagerness to expand bilateral cooperation with Nigeria. He emphasized the Kingdom’s strong interest in collaborating with Nigeria in vital economic sectors such as renewable energy, agriculture, and water resource management.
“We are eager to strengthen our relationship with Nigeria and explore mutually beneficial opportunities that will contribute to the prosperity of both nations,” Ambassador Alghamdi stated.
