Calvin Bassey suspended for 2 games

Calvin Bassey will miss Ajax first two games of the new league season after he was sent off in the Dutch Super Cup against PSV at the weekend.

Big-money signing Bassey will thus miss the opening match against Fortuna Sittard on Saturday as well as the home match vs Groningen on August 14.

The former Rangers defender saw red for a rash tackle when he was introduced in the second half for his Ajax debut at the weekend.

Ajax said he deserved to be sent off.

The 22-year-old defender thereafter featured in his new club’s 1-1 draw with Dutch second division club, Almere City.
