Both Rivers United and Kwara United yesterday recorded big home wins in CAF club competitions.
Rivers United trounced Watanga of Liberia 3-0 in Port Harcourt in a CAF Champions League, while Kwara United was also very much at home in Lagos with a 3-0 win over AS Douanes of Niger in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Agu Kenechukwu Augustine opened the scoring for Rivers United after just eight minutes, before defender Ebube Duru made it 2-0 10 minutes later.
Paul Acquah increased the lead against the Liberians in first half stoppage time.
In Lagos, Paul Samson put Kwara in front against Niger cup winners AS Douanes in the fifth minute.
Wasiu Jimoh scored Kwara United’s second goal from the penalty spot after 17 minutes, before he got his brace five minutes from the break.
On Saturday, Plateau United drew 2-2 with Stade Mandji in Gabon in another CAF Champions League encounter.
The return leg will be played in Abuja next week.
