The Federal Government has said that no Nigerian in Libya is under attack following the recent verdict of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) which indicted the Libyan Football Association for their ill-treatment of the Nigerian team and officials while in Libya for a nations cup qualifying match.

The Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Eche Abu-Obe, in a statement issued in Abuja, said the Ministry wished  to convey that as of the time of making this statement, Nigerians in Libya were going about their daily activities, devoid of any form of harassment by the Libyan authorities.

“This is contrary to a publication in the Punch newspaper on November 3, 2024,” the government said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated that the wellbeing of Nigerian citizens anywhere in the world is a top priority of the Federal Government and would continue to strive to safeguard it at all times.
