The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the dates and host countries for several major competitions on its 2026-27 calendar, providing a clearer schedule for national teams, clubs, players, broadcasters and supporters.

CAF said the updated calendar reflects progress in making its competitions more stable and predictable while creating additional opportunities across senior and youth football.

In a statement published on Monday, the continental football governing body said the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda will hold from June 19 to July 17, 2027.

The qualifying competition for the tournament is scheduled to begin in September 2026.

South Africa to host CAF Super Cup

The TotalEnergies CAF Super Cup will be played in Tshwane, South Africa, on November 8, 2026.

The fixture will pit TotalEnergies CAF Champions League winners Mamelodi Sundowns against TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup holders USM Alger.

CAF said the match will kick off at 3pm local time, which is 1pm GMT.

Ghana, Morocco and Egypt get youth tournaments

Ghana will host the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations in February and March 2027, while Morocco will stage the TotalEnergies CAF Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations in April and May.

Egypt will host the CAF Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations, which will also serve as the qualifying competition for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

CAF said it was also assessing the feasibility of launching a new Under-17 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations next year, subject to the required sporting and organisational conditions.

The proposed competition is expected to provide another competitive platform for young female footballers across the continent.

Morocco, Senegal to host futsal and beach football

Morocco will host the Futsal Africa Cup of Nations from October 12 to 21, 2026, while Senegal will stage the CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations in November.

CAF said the host arrangements form part of efforts to provide greater certainty around its competitions and allow stakeholders to plan ahead.

CAF confirms dates for inter-club competitions

At club level, CAF said the draws for the preliminary rounds of the 2026-27 Champions League and Confederation Cup have been completed.

The first legs of the opening preliminary round are scheduled for September 4 to 6, while the return fixtures will be played from September 11 to 13.

CAF also disclosed that discussions on the proposed African Nations League had advanced, with the Executive Committee considering the format of the planned competition.

The football body said greater certainty around competition dates and host countries would help Member Associations plan more effectively and give players clearer competitive pathways.

CAF added that the more predictable calendar would also provide broadcasters, commercial partners and supporters with greater visibility around the continent’s major football events.
