William Troost-Ekong is rooting for his teammate Ademola Lookman to be named Africa’s best player for 2024.
Lookman is one of the final nominees for the desired award.
The other contenders for the honor are Serhou Guirassy, Achraf Hakimi, Rowen Williams, and Achraf Hakimi.
The winner will be announced next Monday at the 2024 CAF Awards event in Marrakech, Morocco.
Troost-Ekong believes his teammate is the only worthy winner of the award.
“I would say he’s arguably our best player and arguably the best player in Africa right now,” Troost-Ekong said.
“On December 16, there will be the [African Player of the Year] ceremony, and I’m sure he’s going to win it,” Troost-Ekong told Speaking with talkSPORT.
“This season he’s been something else and at AFCON he was amazing,” Troost-Ekong added.
“Everybody saw the hat-trick in the Europa League final, and there were a lot of rumours about big clubs which I know to be true. If I were any top club right now, I’d want him.”
