Former vice chairman of Nigeria Football Association, Richard Obienu has called on newly crowned Nigeria Professional Football League champions, Rangers International of Enugu to commence preparations for next year’s CAF Champions League in good time to avoid an early exit.
Obienu while congratulating the ‘Flying Antelopes’ for their performance and bringing joy to fans of the club world- wide, noted that the club must learn from the past mistakes as it makes a return to the continent.
“I must commend Rangers for winning the league and bringing joy to us 32 years after the club last won a trophy. Credit must be given to the former governor, Sullivan Chime for putting the structure in place and to governor Ugwuanyi for keeping fate with the team. But Rangers need to take a step further by getting prepared for the continental battle.
“The League Management Company, LMC, must also be commended for the way they organised the last game in Enugu. The stadium was jam packed and the atmosphere was electrifying and the presentation ceremony was done in a very professional manner that made one feel like it was in the English Premier League.”
I felt great being at the stadium and it was great seeing former Rangers greats as well as former administrators of football present at the venue.”
The former Rangers board member also commended the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation.
