• 40 man female gender friendly strong Team Nigeria athletes touch down in Douala
Members of Team Nigeria to the Africa Seniors Athletics Championships have landed in Douala, the economic capital of Cameroon.
Your authoritative news channel, FIRST ZEALMEDIACAST BLOG understands that the 40 man female gender friendly strong Team Nigeria squad landed in Douala before midday today (Thursday), ahead of the competition which starts Friday.
The team is made up of 20 women and an equal number of men.
The women will compete for honours in eleven events, 100m, 4×100m relay, 100m hurdles, 400,m, 4×400m relay, 800m, Long and High Jump, Discus, Hammer and Javelin.
While the men are to compete in the 100m, 4×100m relay, 200m, 400m, 4×400m relay, 800m, Long Jump, Shot Put, Discus and Decathlon.
Speaking with AFN Media before leaving for Cameroon, the 100m hurdles, Tobi Amusan said they are going to Douala to display their talents.
“We are Nigerians, and we are going to Douala to show that spirit of ‘we can do it.”
Newly crowned 100m queen, Favour Ofili said: “I am confident we will top the medals table in Douala.”
Long jumper, Ese Brume also promised to do her best to ensure Nigeria finish well in Douala.
