About 300 small-scale entrepreneurs have each received a N100,000 grant amounting to 30 million naira in the southern senatorial district of Cross River State.
The entrepreneurs who also include farmers are expected use the funds to enhance their businesses and also support economic development at the grassroots.
The grant facilitated by the lawmaker representing the Southern Senatorial District, Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, is in partnership with the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency, SEDAN and the Iwari Global Synergy Ltd.
Speaking on behalf of Senator Ekpenyong, Hon. Oqua Edet Oqua commended the senator’s unwavering commitment to human capacity development and grassroots empowerment.

“Distinguished Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong understands that economic growth starts at the bottom. By empowering our local entrepreneurs, he is building a future where prosperity is not a privilege but a possibility for all,” he said.
He assured his constituents of continued support in partnership with federal agencies.
The Cross River State manager for SMEDAN, Dr. Fortune Etu, said the grant would help boost economic development at the local level.
He also disclosed that a lot is happening in the state through SMEDAN and tasked the beneficiaries to make the most of the grant.
One of the beneficiaries, Iquo Etim, thanked the lawmaker for being mindful of small-scale farmers and businesses saying the grant will significantly enhance their trade.
