In its bid to remain consistent in producing quality professionals that can compete favourably with their counterparts in other climes, the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) has fixed operational date for its new examination syllabus.
The Chairman, Officers Representatives Committee ( ORC) , Karieren Pius, while addressing members at a meeting, said that its new professional examination syllabus would become operational by October, 2021.
Explaining the rationale for the development, Pius said the governing council of the institute considered the syllabus review in order to ensure that professionals produced by the institute discharge their functions creditably, and remain competitive.
This, among others, he pointed out is the fallout of the monthly meeting of Officers Representatives Committee (ORC) of the institute held recently in Lagos.
He urged those who are yet to complete their professional courses to hasten up and do so before the new syllabus is unveiled.
Also, ORC at the meeting recognized its past chairperson, Lady Isioma Chukwuma, with an award for her excellent performance during her tenure from 1998 to 2000.
Giving the award to Chukwuma, who is also a past president of the governing board of the institute, Karieren said she deserved the award because of her numerous contributions to ORC and the institute.
He described Chukwuma as a rare gem known for dedication to duties.
Chukwuma, while receiving the award, commended ORC for the honour bestowed on her even as she called on members to be hardworking.
ORC is a committee of the institute, comprising representatives from the arms of the industry – underwriters, brokers, loss adjusters and re-insurers.
It is saddled with the responsibility of communicating programmes of the institute to their various companies.
