Kano State Police Command have ordered the restriction of movements of motor vehicles, tricycles and motorcycles during Saturday’s bye elections in Bagwai, Shanono, Ghari and Tsanyawa LGAs of Kano State.
A Thursday night statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said the restriction would commence by 12.00 midnight on Friday and lasts till 6 00 pm on Saturday, 16th August, 2025.
The statement; however, exempted vehicles on essential services such as ambulances, fire service trucks, and vehicles of electoral officers and accredited election observers.
The statement warned that only eligible voters and INEC’s accredited agents would be allowed at the polling units during the bye elections.

The statement equally prohibited the carrying of weapons of any sort as well as presence of individuals wearing clothings or carrying items with political party logos or identities at polling units.
The statement further outlawed the presence of personel of state security outfits such as vigilante groups and KAROTA at polling units during the exercise.
The statement assured the public of its commitment to providing adequate security and maintaining peace throughout the electoral process.
“Security agencies will continue to remain apolitical, impartial, professional, neutral, and civil in the discharge of their duties” the statement said while urging visitors and residents alike to cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies to ensure a smooth and hitch-free electoral process.
