Afrobeat sensation, Damini Ogulu popularly known as Burna Boy has achieved a historic milestone as the first African artist to surpass two billion streams in the United Kingdom.

During his sold-out performance at Koko Camden in London on Monday night, Burna Boy was honoured with a Brit plaque in recognition of this achievement.

The award follows closely on the heels of receiving a Brit plaque for reaching one billion streams at another sold-out show at London Stadium last month.

Accepting the Brit 2 billion streams plaque, Burna Boy expressed gratitude and emphasised the significance of perseverance, stating, “Thank you very much. I appreciate you. Ehn, now that’s it. You have to fight for your right.”

When a presenter suggested he already had the achievement and didn’t need to fight further, Burna Boy asserted, “No. You know, we have to fight for our rights.”
