In a statement signed by his sons, Barr. Ogbonnaya Eze Agom and Prince Sam Ogbu Agom Eze, the family described him as “the colossus, our father and grandfather, HRH Elder Ezeogo Dr Agom Eze, Igboezekuna I of Igboeze Onicha and former Chairman of the Ebonyi State Council of Traditional Rulers.”

They said the rites of passage would begin on Tuesday, 18 November 2025, with a service of songs and night of tributes at St Peter’s Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Kpirikpiri, Abakaliki, starting at 5 p.m.

According to the family, the body will depart the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki (FETHA 1), on Thursday, 20 November, for his residence at No. 7B Amagu Street, Abakaliki GRA, by 10 a.m. From there, it will move to the Traditional Rulers Council Hall on Onwe Road for lying in state.

The commendation service will hold at St Peter’s Presbyterian Church, Kpirikpiri, before the body is taken home to Onicha Igboeze Autonomous Community for a service of songs and wake-keep at the palace.

The burial service is scheduled for Friday, 21 November, at the Central School, Egunkwo, Onicha, by 11 a.m., after which the late monarch will be interred in his compound.

A thanksgiving service will round off the activities on Sunday, 23 November, at All Saints Presbyterian Church, Egunkwo, Onicha.

“We wish to inform the general public that the programme for the burial of our father has been released, inviting friends, associates, and subjects to join us in giving the monarch a befitting farewell,” the statement reads.
