President Muhammadu Buhari is already in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, to attend the fifth European Union-African Union (EU-AU) summit.

The summit ends tomorrow .

Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, in a statement, yesterday,  said the president was accompanied on the trip by governors of Akwa Ibom and Bauchi states, among others.

Adesina said the president will participate in working sessions which revolve around the summit’s theme: “Investing in the youth for a sustainable development,” and on the sidelines of the summit, meet with a number of African Heads of State and their EU counterparts.

He also disclosed the president will seize the occasion to reiterate Nigeria’s readiness to work with African and European countries; to address the challenges affecting both continents, such as peace and security.

President Buhari will also attend an official luncheon to be hosted by the Cote d’Ivoire government, in honour of visiting heads of state and other delegations.

The organisers said 83 heads of state, representing 55 African countries and 28 European countries, will attend the high-level meeting.  Delegations from partner countries, the African Union Commission, the European Union Commission, regional and international organisations, will also participate at the summit.
