The nation’s capital, Abuja will practically stand still this Thursday evening as the Chioma Ajunwa-Okpara Foundation is launched at the Barcelona Hotel in the city.
Already, guests from across the country have arrived and warming up for a great event, which has been described by Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari as not only timely but worthy of emulation. Mrs Buhari is the Special Guest of Honour at the event.
Speaker House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Yakubu Dogara, also declared that the youths in the country needs reorientation through foundations like the Chioma Ajunwa-Okpara’s, hence his staunch support for the event.
With Corporate Nigeria and other sports stakeholders bustling with excitement over the launch, Director General of the Foundation, Prince Henry Amike says he has really been astounded at the level of support from the Nigerian public, the media and top sports personalities.
“With Chioma’s pedigree as a police officer, footballer, athlete and long jumper, there could not have been any better role model to look up to in Nigerian sports than her. Don’t also forgot that up till date she is the only Olympics individual gold medalist that Nigeria has produced,” Amike declared
