Legendary British actor, Sir Ian McKellen says he is looking forward to returning to work after recovering from injuries sustained during his recent freak accident.

Sir McKellen gave an update on his health to his 7.9 million Facebook followers on Tuesday evening.

The 85-year-old actor fell off stage during a performance at London’s Noël Coward theatre on Monday night.

He was engaged in a fight scene during the performance of Player Kings, a production of Shakespeare’s Henry IV, Parts One and Two, when the incident occurred.

He was taken to the hospital after being initially assisted by a staff member and the play was cancelled, the BBC reported.

In his post, Sir McKellen said, “I want to thank everyone for their kind messages and support.

“Since the accident, during a performance of Player Kings last night, my injuries have been diagnosed and treated by a series of experts, specialists and nurses working for the National Health Service.

“To them, of course, I am hugely indebted. They have assured me that my recovery will be complete and speedy and I am looking forward to returning to work.”
