The Lagos State House of Assembly on Thursday passed a bill on Value Added Tax (VAT) as well as a bill that prohibits open cattle grazing in the state.
The two bills, which enjoyed a unanimous by state lawmakers, were passed during Thursday’s plenary after they were read the third time.
Following the development, the Speaker of the House, Mudashiru Obasa, directed the Acting Clerk of the House, Mr Olalekan Onafeko, to transmit clean copies of the two bills to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for assent.
The Speaker commended his colleagues for their passion to see that the state continued to experience rapid growth.
‘I thank you all for this historic exercise,’ he said.
The passage of the bills come less than 24 hours after the House held separate public hearings on the bills.
A one-day public hearing was held separately on the two bills on Wednesday with stakeholders overwhelmingly indicating their support for the pieces of legislation.
