Heavily armed police officers and State Security Service (SSS) operatives have encircled the Kano Emir’s Palace in Kofar Kudu, barring entry and exit from the environment.

Security was deployed to the palace as a result of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II’s efforts to install his newly appointed Wamban Kano, District Head of Bichi.

According to reports, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II will accompany recently appointed Wamban Kano, Munir Sanusi, to his official district posting in Bichi.

Reliable sources have also reported that the Bichi Emir’s Palace is heavily guarded, with armed police officers stationed nearby.

Two weeks ago, when in Bichi, APC National Chairman Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje stated that the Bichi Emirate Council was still legitimate and that Emir Nasiru Ado Bayero was still the established emir.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, acting under the newly passed Kano Emirate Council Law, invalidated the five emirs and removed them from their chiefdoms.

However, a few days later, the same government named three second-class emirs, omitting Bichi, thereby creating a district head’s domain.
