A 9-year-old boy and another person have been electrocuted in the Ilasamaja area of Lagos.

The victims, Chinemerem, 9, and Qudus, were said to have had contact with a bare electric wire at their house in Ilasamaja and were electrocuted in the process.

The police said the deaths occurred on Tuesday, June 10.

It was gathered that a complainant reported at Ilasamaja Police Division that, on that day, a man reported that his nephew and another victim had contact with a naked electric wire and were immediately taken to the hospital for treatment, but were confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said that, based on the report, a team of police detectives visited the scene and the hospital, where the corpses were inspected and photographed. “The corpses have been evacuated and deposited at a public morgue for autopsy. Meanwhile, investigation is in progress,” he said.
