Heritage Boxing Entertainment will stage “The President Belt”, a Pan-African professional boxing championship featuring boxers from Nigeria and across Africa in April.

The prestigious international event honours the life and legacy of Alhaja Abibatu Ashabi Mogaji, mother of President Bola Tinubu.

The championship is powered by ‘Gbaja For Governor’ group, led by chairman Awilla Banigo.

HBE Boxing Africa CEO Chinedu Okeke expressed appreciation to the Gbaja for Governor Group for their support towards the sporting show.

“I would like to appreciate all the support we have had from the ‘Gbaja For Governor Group” who empowered this,” Okeke said.

“Seeing a group like this supporting boxing shows how important the youth and their soort is to them and I applaud them.”

The event will feature some of the continent’s top boxing talents, including undefeated middleweight champion Oluwatobi Samson, HBE National Champion Chinwendu “Flash” Akaolisa, Nigerian soldier Godwin Ambrose, and Pape Sow from Senegal.

Other boxers expected to compete include Akingbade Ifeoluwa (Nig police), Francis Tokpo (Benin Republic), Hounkpatin Komlangan (Togo Rep), Ayobami Samson, Daniel Akande, Cynthia Olofuntuyi and USA signed Jennifer Odhegba.

The championship celebrates the legacy of Alhaja Abibatu Ashabi Mogaji, described as a trailblazing mother, market icon and inspiration to the nation.
