Following devastating floods that affected parts of the capital, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, the Minister of Defence, has sent his sincere condolences to Prof Babagana Umara Zulum, the Governor of Borno State, and the residents of Maiduguri.
The flooding, caused by the overflow of the Alau Dam, has resulted in significant property damage and displaced numerous families.
In his statement on Wednesday, Badaru conveyed his sorrow over the situation, stating, “I am deeply saddened by the unfortunate flooding in Maiduguri, which has displaced families and caused untold hardship to the people of this great city. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families during this difficult time.”
The minister also recognised the Borno people’s tenacity and commended Governor Zulum for his quick and efficient handling of the situation.
“The resilience of the Borno people in the face of adversity is remarkable, and I have no doubt that under Governor Zulum’s leadership, Maiduguri will recover swiftly from this disaster,” Badaru added.
