Borno budgets N234.8bn for 2023

Borno State government has budgeted N234,831,950,000  for the 2023 fiscal year.

Governor Babagana  Zulum disclosed this, yesterday, during the presentation of the 2023 Appropriation and Finance bill to the state House of Assembly in Maiduguri.

He said  the budget was made up of N144.2 billion appropriation for capital expenditure, and N90.7 billion for recurrent expenditure.

He said the budget would be deployed for the construction of schools, health facilities, road expansion, agriculture, humanitarian interventions and payment of salaries and pensions next year.

According to Zulum,  the budget would be financed from recurrent revenue of N137.8 billion  expected from the monthly federal allocation. 

He said he would  remove the embargo on promotion of public servants and promised to settle all backlogs of gratuities and pensions.

The 2023 appropriation tagged ‘Budget of Continuity for Sustainability’ is about N34 billion less than the 2022 budget which was N268 billion.

Ministry of Finance got the biggest allocation of N30 billion, followed by education with N28 billion, works N25 billion, health N19.9 billion while Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement sector got N19.6 billion.
