The Borno State government has started Artificial Intelligence (AI) boot camp training for secondary school students and youths to acquire digital skills for job creation in the current digital world.

The AI skill training followed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the state government and Maxzeeton Technology, an indigenous technology firm.

Executive Secretary of Borno State Information and Communications Technology Development Agency (BICTDA), Kabir Wanori, who signed the MoU on behalf of the government in Maiduguri, explained that the technology firm was expected to collect data on unemployment and support youths in boosting Artificial Intelligence (AI) skill.

“The objectives of this partnership are to address the rate of unemployment among youths and to bridge the gender inclusion gap among females in the technology ecosystem,” Wanori stated.

He said the agreement would also encourage collaboration and innovation among young professionals. He assured that the state government would promote youth development and AI skill.

The Chief Executive Officer of Maxzeeton Technology, Abdullahi Abbati, said the partnership, which is expected to last for six months, targets 100 youths in Maiduguri, the state capital for a start.

He disclosed that the firm would engage mentors and industry professionals to support participants.

According to him, the partnership and training aligned with the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (2020-2030), and the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy to promote AI and digital skills especially among the young population in the country.

The MoU highlighted the responsibilities of both parties and also allowed termination of the agreement through a written letter.
