Indian actor Tiger Shroff escaped unhurt after gunmen opened fire at him in Mumbai, with police confirming that three suspects have been detained in connection with the incident.

The shooting occurred on Sunday evening as the 36-year-old actor was leaving a private event in Juhu, an upscale area of Mumbai, according to police official Mohit Garg.

Garg told reporters that Shroff was safe and that security personnel had been deployed to investigate the incident.

“Tiger Shroff is safe and Mumbai police has deployed different teams to investigate further,” he said.

Although the actor was not hit by gunfire, two people were injured in the incident, including his driver.

Police later detained three suspects in Rajasthan, another state in India, as investigations into the shooting continued.

Police official Tejaswani Gautam said preliminary questioning had revealed that two of the suspects had previous cases against them.

“Preliminary questioning revealed that two of them have one case each against them, one related to theft and the other under the Arms Act,” Gautam said.

Authorities have yet to establish the motive behind the shooting.

Shroff is known for his roles in action films, including the Baaghi franchise and War. Mumbai, India’s financial capital, is also a major centre of the country’s film industry, popularly known as Bollywood.
