Legendary gospel singer Bola Are, including others like Tope Alabi, Sola Allyson, Lilian Nneji, Kent Edunjobi, Dare Justified, Dayo Ojo, Glorious Twins, Joseph and Yinka Erinle, and Seyi Daniels have been penciled to perform at the 10th edition of Luli Concert scheduled for Friday, October 2 at Tafawa Balewa Square, Onikan, Lagos.
Also billed to minister at the event are Paul Tomisin, Ajidara, Harjovy, US-based Tola Sings, Just Worship Team from France, Funmi Black, El-Berachah Worship Choir, and Omotola Parish Choir.
Organised by El-Berachah Worship Ministry, Luli Concert, which began in 2016, this year marks a decade of worship, evangelism and Christian fellowship with a series of activities designed to combine spiritual renewal with community development.
With the theme: ‘I Will Rejoice in the God of My Salvation’, the 10th anniversary edition is anchored on Habakkuk 3:18, reflecting the journey of faith, gratitude and perseverance that has characterised the concert over the past years.
Convener of El-Berachah Worship Ministry, Dr Gbenga Daniel-Adebayo, said the milestone edition would not only celebrate God’s faithfulness, but also provide an opportunity to prepare for the next decade of the ministry.
He explained further that Luli Concert had evolved from a conventional worship gathering into a broader platform, promoting community impact, creative development, healthcare, wellness and empowerment.
As part of the celebration, organisers have introduced a N14 million grant for small business owners among the volunteers. Beneficiaries are expected to pitch their businesses for consideration.
With music masterclass already held on September 17, participants would take part in the Luli 10-kilometre fitness walk on September 19, alongside the inaugural geriatric hangout. The initiative is aimed at creating an avenue for senior citizens to socialise, relax and participate in recreational activities.
Also, for the first time, the programme will feature Leadership Class, designed to provide leadership development and inspiration for men from different walks of life. Other activities lined up ahead of the main concert include Testimony Night on September 24, Open Mic Challenge on September 26, and medical outreach on October 1 at Tafawa Balewa Square.
The Open Mic Challenge is expected to provide emerging gospel performers and church choirs with an opportunity to showcase their talents. The winner will receive a N2 million cash prize, recording contract and invitation to minister at the 2027 edition of Luli Concert.
According to the organisers, the initiatives were part of efforts to make the 10th anniversary more impactful by creating opportunities for worshippers, creatives, entrepreneurs, senior citizens and members of the wider community.
Founded with a mandate to raise an altar of praise and worship, proclaim the gospel and foster unity among Christians across denominations, Luli Concert has continued to attract worshippers from different backgrounds.
For this year’s edition, special seating arrangements have been made for foreign guests, members of the Diaspora and persons with special needs. Also in place is a multi-tiered security plan to ensure safety during the event. The arrangement includes security officers, local neighbourhood watch personnel, and specialised K9 unit.
