Tottenham have suspended midfielder Yves Bissouma for their Premier League match against Leicester City on Monday after a video surfaced showing him inhaling laughing gas.

The 27-year-old apologised for what he described as a “severe lack of judgement” after posting the footage on social media on Saturday, where he was seen inhaling from a balloon.

It has been unlawful in the UK to possess nitrous oxide (laughing gas or NOS) for recreational reasons since 2023. Violators face jail terms of up to two years.

“We have suspended him from Monday’s game,” said Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou, who announced the ban. He added that Bissouma will need to rebuild trust with both himself and the team, emphasising that it’s something Bissouma must earn back through his actions.

Postecoglou offered the midfielder a path forward, saying, “The door is open for him, and hopefully, we can help him understand that his decisions have broader consequences.”
