Dr. Taiwo Olayinka Afolabi stands tall as one of Nigeria’s most accomplished business magnates. As a high-profile figure, Afolabi has been recognised as much for his efficacious business empire as for his high-energy and lavish-partying lifestyles. He has been able to seamlessly embrace the balance of intense enterprise and celebration. To those who have attended any of the functions hosted by this maritime mogul, they will affirm that they are always a masterclass in luxury, planning and precision. From event venues to traffic control, decorations, food and entertainment, everything is always in abundance and almost perfect. All his friends in business and politics always look forward to his parties and make themselves available in their numbers to celebrate with a man who is also known for celebrating with people. That’s what transpired on Sunday, November 1, when Afolabi and his adorable wife, Folashade threw another classy shindig in Lagos.
On this day, all roads leading to the exquisite Harbour Point, Victoria Island, Lagos were busy as the billionaire businessman hosted the crème of Nigerian high society at the grand finale of the wedding of his Afrobeats star son, Damilola, popularly known as L.A.X, to his longtime girlfriend, Emmanuella Gbinijie. The wedding party was the crowning moment of a love story that had already taken the couple to Malta in September for a destination white wedding.

If Malta was intimate and exotic, Lagos was majestic and opulent —a true Afolabi signature. The billionaire spared no expense as he painted the city red. Right from the Malta ceremony to the Lagos reception, Afolabi has engaged the best vendors across the country to ensure anyone who attends is treated like a king or queen. The Harbour Point venue was transformed into a spectacle of lights, floral artistry and bespoke décor. Guests were ushered in by professional ushers, while a well-coordinated protocol and security team ensured free flow of traffic despite the high turnout of VVIPs. Inside, it was a roll-call of Nigeria’s elite all turned up to honour both the Taiwo Afolabi and the Fidelis Gbinije.
Hospitality, as expected, was lavish. Tables were stocked with heavy supplies of high-cost cognacs, whiskeys and champagnes. From continental to local delicacies, the food was served in endless courses. Entertainment was top-notch, with live music and a DJ on rotation keeping the energy high, while L.A.X’s colleagues in the music industry added star power to the celebration.
Dressed in elegant traditional attire alongside his wife, Folashade, the doting father was seen moving round to ensure everyone felt welcomed. The SIFAX Group boss didn’t just celebrate, he soaked in every moment and had maximum fun. By the time the party wound down late into the night, one thing was clear —the maritime tycoon had once again set a new benchmark for society weddings in Lagos, and gave his son a befitting celebration worthy of the Afolabi name.
