Billionaire industrialist, Chief Eugene Nzom Ojukwu considers kindness as one of the most adored and idolised qualities of a good character. For over three decades, the Chairman/CEO of E.Ekesons Group of Companies has been regarded as a major player in Nigeria’s road transport and logistics sector. This path has opened him to affluence and influence. Among his wealthy peers, there are a very quite smaller percentage of them with a large heart. But for the billionaire from Akabọ̀ezem in Uruagu Nnewi, Anambra State, he is one blessed man that delights in helping others, especially promising young folks, to prosper. His reputation for charity is not only known to his immediate community but beyond. And he has been giving without making any fuss about his charity. But on Sunday 18 September, it was indeed a splendid moment at the meeting of Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly led by the amiable President, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, where the businessman was honoured for his immense contributions towards the progress of Ndigbo and the association in Lagos State. The meeting, held at Calabar Hall in Surulere, Lagos, was attended by stakeholders including the Ezendigbo, Lagos State, Eze Christian Nwachukwu and different dance groups.
The business magnate used to be a very prominent member of Ohanaeze in Lagos but later withdrew because some characters allegedly attempted to bring the organisation into disrepute. But with the coming of Aguene, the billionaire has resolved to reunite with the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State hence the decision to honour him as the Life Patron of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State. At the meeting, Ojukwu, who has the chieftaincy title “Odinanwa”, was overwhelmed by the number of Ndigbo who attended the meeting and donated undisclosed millions of naira to the association to support the administration of Aguene for his outstanding performance on the welfare of Ndigbo in Lagos State.
