The Lagos State Government has, once again, urged the general public to beware of individuals posing as enforcement personnel of the Ministry of Transportation, (MOT) and Local Government Areas, (LGAs).
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Mr. Olawale Musa, who issued the alert recently in his office at the Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, stated that despite recent operations by the ministry which has led to the apprehension and prosecution of several impostors who have been operating in various parts of the state, the perpetrators have continued with the illegal acts.
The Transportation Ministry Permanent Secretary revealed that the fake enforcement personnel, two of which were apprehended at Cele Ijesha roundabout, Itire on Wednesday last week, are now rampant in areas such as; Mushin, Itire, Ijesha, Ilasa, and Ikeja.
Apart from exploiting unsuspecting motorists, the fake enforcement officers, according to him, have been impeding traffic flow through their nefarious activities.
Mr. Musa urged the public to collaborate with the ministry by reporting any suspicious activities involving the supposed fake enforcement impostors to its public complaint numbers; 09020004000 or. 09020009000,
He affirmed that all genuine officers of the Ministry of Transportation are properly identified and operate within the legal framework.
He further assured that the state government is committed to safety and security of its citizens and would continue to take decisive actions against fraudulent activities, stressing that the apprehended impostors would be charged to court and prosecuted in accordance with the relevant laws of the state.
